Hello there, Rwoody. The Samsung GearVR was designed to work with select Samsung devices containing pre-loaded software provided by Oculus. This model is compatible with Galaxy Note5, Galaxy S6 edge+, Galaxy S6, Galaxy S6 edge, Galaxy S7 and Galaxy S7 edge. The J7 is not included in this list.
