This works well in a small enclosed area eg bathroom. That being said I plugged it into a kitchen outlet as I needed the outlet space in the bathroom and low and behold it also freshened the air in the immediate vicinity, but not the entire kitchen. Great product especially in small enclosed spaces but will work in a small area of a larger room. As far as changing it, whenever it stops working. I plugged mine in about a month ago and it’s working as well as initially but now maybe less intense as the room is dry and odor free since the end of the first week. These small gadgets are usually well constructed and I’m hoping for 5 years as that is how long my electric toothbrushes usually last.

UVC-light will kill viruses and bacteria that flow past the light bulb. This small unit might be helpful to someone stuck in a small office cubicle inside a large office or in a hospital clerical setting. Place unit so that UVC cleaned air is flowing toward your face, this should help reduce your chances of exposure to COVID-19 and other airborne flu viruses. Instructions state Do Not Use electrical extension cord, one image shows a USB cord in use on side of unit, but unclear if unit can be powered by USB.
