It has a short (about 4" or less) cable that plugs directly into the HDMI port on your TV.

Sorry, there was a problem. Please try again later.Chromecast does not require any service or hookup other than an outlet for power and a HDMI port on the receiving end (TV, etc). I have one in the living room and my office (which does not have TV service). The included photo shows how it looks plugged into the TV in my office. The device is turned around backwards, but that's it. As you can see, it can co-exist with other devices as long as you have the port for it. The only thing you need for the Chromecast to work, aside from hookup, is a device to start the casting, such as a phone or computer. When a Chromecast device is detected on the same network as the source device, you'll see a little cast icon on compatible apps and websites.
