Yes, this device does require access to an HDMI slot and works kind of similar to your Roku, but definitely not the same. We had that same problem with only two HDMI slots, and it was a pain to get behind the TV to switch them out as needed, so we bought and HDMI extender cable and now just simply plug-in the needed device without moving or trying to find the slot on the back of the TV. The extension cable sits just on the shelf under the TV and we plug-n-play! And FYI, the Chromecast does also require power when in use, so you will need an available power outlet as well.

To my understanding, there is very little (if any) reason to have both the Roku and the Chromecast as they serve basically the same function. I don't see the Chromcast adding much to the Roku you already have.
Sorry, there was a problem. Please try again later.Unfortunately, yes it does. You can buy a HDMI Switcher from best buy that will give you more HDMI ports. http://www.bestbuy.com/site/agptek-v1-3-1080p-3-port-hdmi-switcher-splitter-box-for-ps3-xbox-blu-ray-dvd-hdtv-black/1310172470.p?id=mp1310172470&skuId=1310172470 Gives you 3 more ports and opens up more capabilities.
Sorry, there was a problem. Please try again later. You would have to get a HDMI switch, however I would suggest disconnecting the Roku and try using the Chromecast ONLY for a few weeks and see which you prefer. There really isn't any reason to have both of them as they both do the same thing except the ROKU has a remote where you use a tablet, smart phone, or computer to control the Chromecast. I personally prefer the Chromecast.
Sorry, there was a problem. Please try again later. You could ask for high definition component cables for your cable box or purchase PlayStation variants used for like 4-5 bucks. You can then use the HDMI port given. You can also purchase a HDMI Splitter but I wouldn't go below gold platted to connect this. Sadly most Comcast signals given are not actually true 1080, watch football using a newer antenna to find that out, so a good component cable again gold platted or better would look the same. The examples are just to get you started the Best buy website would rather have you look at new tvs then actually help you find the cords your looking for you need the variant that offers 5 or 6 cables in and out not the one I could find which only offers 3.
I would recommend:
Sorry, there was a problem. Please try again later.you can always purchase an HDMI splitter
Sorry, there was a problem. Please try again later.Yes it must. Most Rokus come with a cable allowing you to use the composite cables instead of the HDMI, you could move it over to free up an HDMI port. Another option you have is to buy an HDMI to AV or component converter.
Sorry, there was a problem. Please try again later. You can buy an HDMI switch that will allow you to increase the number of HDMI ports.
