You will need a faster/better internet speed to reduce the buffering that can happen when you watch. You don't connect the Chromecast to your PC. It is connected to your TV and you download the app 'chromecast' from the play store or itunes store for FREE. Below is taken from: http://www.tomsguide.com/us/what-is-google-chromecast,news-17637.html Chromecast is a device that you plug into your TV's HDMI port, powered by a USB cable (included). Using your smartphone or computer as a remote control, you can use Chromecast to access video content from Netflix, YouTube, Hulu Plus, the Google Play Store and other services.
Sorry, there was a problem. Please try again later.I'm not sure about the internet speed requirements, but I can explain a little about how the device works. It doesn't get plugged into your computer, it gets plugged into your television's HDMI in. The chromecast doesn't store anything. You use a separate device (Android, PC, iPhone/iPad) and 'cast' to the device. What this does, essentially, is send the URL for the video you are watching to the device and from there it picks up the URL and streams it. Some of the apps/websites that work with the chromecast are Netflix, Hulu+, YouTube and HBOGO. There are quite a few more and with just a little googlin' around and reading forums and such, you can find even more. I personally use XBMCcast and Show Box (neither available in the market, but easily found and sideloaded onto an android device via a google search for XBMCcast apk or Show Box apk) coupled with Localcast or Bublble UPNP (both found in the Google Play Market) to watch just about anything I want to watch, including the latest episodes of popular TV shows.
Sorry, there was a problem. Please try again later.Think of Chromecast as a projector. It is not a storage device, it only projects the video feed onto your device via streaming the internet. Your network speed should be fast enough to stream but don't be surprised if your movie queues once in a while.
Sorry, there was a problem. Please try again later.170Mbps is definitely fast enough for streaming video. 1.5Mbps... not so much. the Chromecast should be plugged to the TV with the driver/app installed to your laptop or PC then run an app on the PC that can be "Cast" to the TV for viewing. the video stream is not stored on the PC, it just passes through on its way from HBO/Netflix/etc to your TV. Yes, you watch the movie as it streams. if your connection is too slow, your video will occasionally pause as it tries to buffer more of the stream to play.
Sorry, there was a problem. Please try again later.Your videos will probably be choppy due to the limits of your download speed. I have an average download of about 2 Mbps and I have been mostly satisfied. Chromecast plugs directly into the TV HDMI port directly and must be powered by usb. My TV has a usb port and it plugs in with no problem. If your TV does not have a usb port you will need to use a usb wall adapter. Downloads are not stored and only stream. If you can view streaming movies on your laptop you should be able to use Chromecast with about the same results but any other internet activity at the same time will decrease your Chromecast results.
Sorry, there was a problem. Please try again later.Chromecast is just a hub to send your video to your tv and works only with participating apps or if you search on your computer through the google chrome browser. I plug my chromecast into the TV I want to send the movies to and it connects to my internet signal. Then I go on my tablet into a streaming app (Netflix) which is also connected to my wifi and there is a little button that I hit and it sends to my TV. Chromecast does not store any information or data. Recommended streaming mbps can be found here: https://help.netflix.com/en/node/306 Hope this helps
Sorry, there was a problem. Please try again later. It plays directly from internet, and therefore the quality depends on the wifi speed. 1.5Mbps may be enough for may videos, but for HD quality, you'll need at least double that speed.
Sorry, there was a problem. Please try again later.Chromecast take the streaming two ways, first one directly from the device via wifi , so chromecast is not using the Internet connection, is using the Internet of the device or the memory of the device (depending the source of the video). The second one, chromecast take control of the source from Internet so is going to stream directly but still need de device connection to manage play-pause-return-fw features.
Sorry, there was a problem. Please try again later. You must watch it while streaming the show from Hulu, Netflix, etc., to your Chromecast device. Hope this helps!
Sorry, there was a problem. Please try again later. You should have no problem streaming.
