4k is the resolution capability of the product how clear the picture is a normal HD TV is only 2k resolution
Sorry, there was a problem. Please try again later. It's a resolution value like pixels in a photograph or in a camera. If you are not that familiar with 4K high definition, you probably own a 720P or 1080i/P resolution TV now, meaning the picture of 4K is many times more refined, detailed, etc. than what you have now. "Smart TV" and 4K are essentially different matters though nearly 100% of current 4K TVs are "smart". 4K resolution TVs are great but you need to be fairly close (closer than 10'-12') to REALLY see the resolution. Highly recommend. LG is currently a great brand for 4K AND "smartness" due to their advanced, easy to use TV menu system.

Sorry, there was a problem. Please try again later.4K, also called UHD, is ultra high definition television. If you’re familiar with high definition, UHD is better. You do need a 4K TV to watch in 4K and if you want to watch 4K DVD’s you'll need a 4K player. Some 4K players can upconvert (make your regular Blu-rays and DVD’s look better. You’ll be able to watch televised programs in 4K only if they’re already broadcast in 4K, but even regular HD will look better.
Sorry, there was a problem. Please try again later. Also known as "ultra high def", 2160p (vs 720p or 1080p). If the box doesn't say any of these things, you probably don't need the chromecast ultra.
