Remember there are two methods of streaming to a Chromecast. One laggy and one high performance. The high performance method is via direct stream handoff through YouTube, Netflix, and Google Play Movies phone and other apps when clicking the Cast icon inside the apps. This literally cuts out the middleman of the phone or PC allowing for Chromcast to get direct communication from YouTube or Netflix. The laggy way is by screen mirroring either through pulling down a phone's Android settings menu screen and clicking the Cast icon, or in the Chrome browser on PC when clicking the Cast icon (however if a video is playing in a web page Chrome may do a nice high performance stream handoff to Chromecast, but if browsing or gaming expect lag). Screen mirroring takes more processing power resulting in slowness and dropped frames. One more note, Chromecast Ultra appears to have a dedicated power supply as opposed to last gen's ability to plug USB into the TV. This may mean higher power usage which could mean higher performance and less lag in general.

Sorry, there was a problem. Please try again later.I got the previous version and I returned it right a way it was useless Waste of money But this version. The ultra is a 5 star and definitely recomend Im not sure about lap tops but cell phone casting is wesome No bufering at all
Sorry, there was a problem. Please try again later.I am using the Chromecast Ultra to mirror my wireless laptop to the TV. There is some lag but I find it acceptable. I suspect with a hardwired internet connection the lag would be reduced but I have not tried it. My HDMI port stopped working after upgrading my laptop to Windows 10 and I could never get it to work w/o downgrading to the older OS. The Chromecast was a perfect solution for me!
Sorry, there was a problem. Please try again later.no it wont be as good, but it will be a lot less laggy than the previous generation.
Sorry, there was a problem. Please try again later. The quality of the mirroring depends on the WIFI speed. mirroring is good with a decent internet speed.
Sorry, there was a problem. Please try again later.Well this one comes with the ability to connect via Ethernet, and has a faster processor, so either might help cut down on lag compared to wireless,, but then again some lag is understandable since it has to leave the computer, connect to the router, and then from the router connect to the Chromecast. An HDMI connection to the television would be the least laggy, however dealing with a cable is annoying and a Chromecast seems simpler.
Sorry, there was a problem. Please try again later.Depends on your network throughput. Need to be 10mps minimum.
Sorry, there was a problem. Please try again later. It has a severe lag! Might as well use a "Dongle!" That's all it is...
Sorry, there was a problem. Please try again later.
