I am running them plugged in. Works fine. Will keep battery fully charged for when a power outage occurs. The fully charged battery will kick in.

However, the included power adapter is not weatherproof and not intended for outdoor use. We suggest using a compatible weatherproof cable (sold separately). Also, the Nest Cam (battery) has a local storage fallback that allows it to record videos for up to one hour without Wi-Fi. For battery-powered cameras and doorbells, it can also record for one hour when the power goes out. You’ll be able to see in the dark, which range depends on how much light there is. If there are any light sources in the area, your camera may be able to see even farther.
