The cameras are wired for power but they operate through your wifi network.

Please try again later.As someone who has both a central station alarm and the nest cameras, I think they are referring to it not needing to be connected to your computer or a television by wires. You just set up the nest account on your phone and plug the camera into an electric outlet and your good to go. Just be sure you have wifi service wherever the cameras are installed. I love mine. I have not had any trespassers on my property since I had them installed. And the are way cheaper then going with an alarm company.
