You don't need a monthly subscription however without it you lose a lot of functionality...10 or 30 day history, person alerts, activity zones, etc. Without out you basically get a live feed with 3 hours of history of still images from motion detection.

Please try again later.You do not need a subscription to utilize these cameras, but they offer additional subscriptions to archive data for you, and you also get a few more bells & whistles in the app. (Setting up camera zones for more detailed notifications) I have them installed at two houses, with one house having 2 cameras using the subscription and one house having just one camera that does not use the subscription.

Sorry, there was a problem. Please try again later.No, the monthly subscription is for the cloud storage which stores footage for either 10 or 30 days. Without the subscription you can only view snap shots of events not the past recording which is continuous. Hope that helps
