It needs the Internet to perform otherwise it will give an off-line indication

Without this paid "Aware" video storage, the Nesty cam is useless because it sends you 1 picture taken late (usually back of a head). Go with the Samsung HiDef SmartCam it has a SD card so you can watch camera video history without paying the $10 a month to Google. Its less expensive, same quality, easy set up, stream video and recorded video is free!. Can buy it at BestBuy, or other places. I started with the Nest Cam and realized how useless it was when my 1 month free trial of Nest Aware ran out - and its too late to return. I CL my Nest Cam and bought the Samsung SmartCam.
