There's no fee to stream full resolution live video and receive basic notifications, as long as your camera is connected to the internet. If you want to go back and view recorded video, you can view events up to 3 hours in the past. However, you’ll need a Nest Aware subscription to record video, receive advanced notifications, to get extra features and to view videos saved in the cloud. Nest Aware is a paid subscription service you can use with your Nest products to help keep you informed about important events at your home. With a Nest Aware subscription, your Nest camera stores video securely to the Nest cloud so you can access it anytime, anywhere. Sorry, there was a problem. Please try again later.Hi, If you want useable functionality, I would recommend the Nest Aware. Otherwise, you get a paltry 3 hour review block of recordings; meaning if you want to see what triggered the motion alert on your phone at 2am and it's 6am, it will disappear. Better units are available that include subscription free service and operate in a similar fashion.

Sorry, there was a problem. Please try again later.Only if you want the camera to record and have access to those recordings. I had it set up without the fee for more than a year but found it necessary due to my neighborhood. I wanted to be able to see more than a simple snapshot.
