“How do you secure this device? Seems like it would be easy to hack. I read online that these devices can be hacked and used to monitor activities. Is this being fixed and how do I know who logs into the device?”

I feel that any internet system can be "hacked", but I also feel that (a) Nest has placed enough security and (b) owners should create good passwords to secure their data.

It's as secure as your own wifi network. I doubt anyone cares enough about you to hack your thermostat.

NEST runs through your home network as it has to connect to the internet to be accessible from anywhere. As long as your home network is secure you should be protected.
