We just had our home remodeled and to pass code inspection, we needed one in each bedroom and the hallway upstairs and downstairs.
Sorry, there was a problem. Please try again later. That's about the size of my house, I have one in each bedroom (4), one in the basement, one in the hallway next to the bedrooms, one in our family room and one in our formal living room. So it really depends on how many bedrooms you have and your local codes, but for me I used 8 to protect my whole house, but by code I could have gotten away with 6 but added a couple extra for extra piece of mind.
Sorry, there was a problem. Please try again later. As a minimum, I would think one in your sleeping area (bedroom) and one near the kitchen / furnace room. If you have a separate fireplace, you might consider one in that room as well. Best to check with your local fire department, they will tell you what you need for free!
Sorry, there was a problem. Please try again later. It will depend on how many rooms you have. It is recommended to get one for each bedroom, then hallways, living room, etc. minus kitchen and garage.
