The Nest Secure system has an option called open tone. When Open Tone is enabled, and the alarm is set to Off , the Guard will sound a friendly tone when someone opens a door or window.

So unless you’re near the base station, you won’t hear it. We tried it. We have a single story home and with the base station in the hallway, we could not hear it in the kitchen. Which was about 40’ away and around one corner.

They mention this in their installation literature, with the comment that it is helpful when you’re home and the child is not always in your direct vision, and you wish to know if they wander into the back yard. The sensors also are motion detectors, but that aspect doesn’t function until the system is armed, so you don’t hear chimes every few minutes all day long.
