In order to have full use of Nest Secure via google assistant you need Nest Hub. I purchased the amazing Nest Hub Max. Everything works extraordinarily well now. Before the hub purchase, the assistant was limited to merely informing you w voice confirmation of the state of the system. Once the hub ws installed, the Nest Secure system would accept voice commands and respond to requests.

After some searching I found that if you press and hold the 2 button on the hub it will tell you the current software version. Keep holding the 2 button and it will then force check and apply new software updates, which is what I needed to do. After that the google assistant worked for me. Just make sure to release the button after it says it is checking for updates, or it may go into a factory reset.

Sorry, there was a problem. Please try again later.It works and Google assist will set the alarm for you as well. When I bought mine, it took about a week for the nest to get the software updates before it can work with Google assistant.
