No. You can’t use a Nest Temperature Sensor without a Nest thermostat. Your temperature sensor will report temperature data directly to a Nest thermostat in the same home over Bluetooth. There are no phone/text alerts but you can use the Nest app to check the temperature details.
Sorry, there was a problem. Please try again later.Probably? You would just need the nest app itself to monitor the temperature. We have the thermostat as well and as far as I can tell these sensors don’t trigger the thermostat itself but just are monitoring other room temps. The good thing about a nest thermostat is that if your temps are out of the range you want ... that same nest app syncs to the thermostat as well so you’re able to do something (turn your furnace or a/c on) about the temperature. Neither cost a monthly fee to use on the nest app. Picture I’ve attached shows the temp sensor in 2 different bedrooms and the main thermostat in the living room. You can see where it monitors the temperature in those rooms and what the temp is at the thermostat itself. The other picture shows the thermostat and what it’s learning from the sensors... also shows humidity inside the house and the temperature outside at my location.
