“Can the ethernet cable to the WAN Port come from a splitter or from my current Netgear router LAN port? I want to keep the Netgear router and add this router to one of the ethernet outputs from the Netgear router.”

Yes, this is just the router and will accept Ethernet from any other cat5 lan port from a modem or router. I have mine running from the Internet providers standard modem/router combo to this device and it works great
