“I have a Moto g4 with ATT and want to keep that plan and just switch the Pixel 4a over when it arrives with out hassle. I attempted to buy the phone but it won't allow me being an ATT customer. Why? please explain how we can buy this at the $50 savings.”

They have the details listed. You either need to add a line or new service to get the discounted price. There's always a catch. Just like the Sprint deal, even though TMobile owns them; the deal doesn't apply to TMobile customers. Best buy doesn't mess with T-Mobile, so TMobile customers currently have to pay full price
