• Battery installed already. Should be a charge on it. BestBuy or your neighbors kid can put the sim in. You only need a paper clip. I think it comes with the tool though.

• Recommend charging. Even otherwise, it can be charged at the store while transferring data

• The battery is installed a non-replaceable (without teardown). As long as it has a decent charge, you don't need to explicitly charge it for a SIM swap. If you are having the store do the data transfer, it is a good idea though.
