The unlocked phone is very plainly the better option. The only difference is the Verizon phone is forbidden by software locks to work on other networks. There is no real hardware differences, and you don't get a verizon SIM card with either.

You may run into some issues with a VZ only phone that it's GSM locked for just that carrier. If you don't do a lot of international travelling, I wouldn't worry much about it. As far as the VZ carrier specific model, it may be a different radio in the phone or a slightly different model. I've never seen a phone with the SIM preinstalled, and the P8 Pro may not have one for the carrier but it's possibly "software locked" to only work with Verizon.
