Yes. You can run linux apps "natively". There is a built-in option in ChromeOS to enable this. Personally I've installed the linux version of Steam and it runs fairly well. There are also options to enable GPU rendering through Linux. You get the latest versions of ChromeOS on this device for several more years at this point.
