I'm not really schooled in technology, but here's my input. I've got free internet included in my rent. I just plugged this into the area in my wall and got better wifi signal than with my previous router. You'll have one "home base" unit, and then you can put the others in various places throughout your home. I've got a 1200 sq ft. place and I have 3 of them. I think it's a great thing to have.

Yes. We just placed them around the house for our computer use. For the cameras we had to enter their codes so the app could recognize them and identify the location.
