This device does not have a USB port, so you wouldn't have that part of it, but otherwise it would work the same as your existing router.

It will however blow away a N Wireless router being that it is AC. Have you considered: Getting a unmanaged switch 10/100/1000 (Like $25 normally) and using that? Then connect this to the switch?

Please try again later.You can definitely do the number one option which is Plug in your RJ45 into the router, but this type of router doesn't have a USB connection to access remotely a hard drive like you have it already. But I do guarantee you that the Google wifi device will be easier to work with and has amazing signal as well.
