• Yes, google WiFi takes Ethernet cable, however, your phone app will only reflect google WiFi hubs. It doesn’t recognize other WiFi extenders. If your other extender is connected to the router as well, with the same WiFi password, it should work.

• I do not believe that you can use it with a different extender. It is meant to work with other Google dual-band mesh routers to set up and configure automatically. Yes, it has an ethernet port on it to connect or "hard wire" devices to the router.
