“Does this device have its own wifi in itself or do I have to already have internet for it to connect to? Essentially I want to know if say I were to go on vacation, can I take it with me so wireless devices can be used anywhere?”

This works like a router in itself that you can add remote access with additional units.
Sorry, there was a problem. Please try again later.This device does not have its own internet connection. You plug it into your router and it creates a wifi network where you are located. You could bring it with you on vacation, but you would need to make sure where you were going had a router to which you would connect the device. Once it is connected to the internet the wireless network signal created is very strong.
