Try buying a different Ethernet cable, maybe one without a protective covering over the release clip if that's what your using now.

The Google provided FLAT Ethernet cable easily fits into the output of the Arris and connects to the Google Wifi Pod. There is no problem. See the picture I attached of my setup. Perhaps you should try another Ethernet cable.

Sorry, there was a problem. Please try again later.I also have an Arris modem (from Charter/Spectrum). You probably have a single ethernet port running from the modem to your router. The other two ports likely the phone ports, which won't fit an ethernet cable. You'll need take ethernet cable from the back of your router and plug it into the Google Wifi access point. If you want to keep your router also, you'll need to run another ethernet cable from the extra port in the Google Wifi access point, back to the port on your router where the cable from the Arris was plugged in.
