Google Wifi replaces your traditional router and connects directly to a modem's WAN port to set it up. You’ll still need an Internet Service Provider (ISP) and a modem to connect to the internet. For complete setup instructions, please visit this link: https://support.google.com/wifi/answer/7183148
Sorry, there was a problem. Please try again later. You need an internet provider. These work as a multicast wifi system. Which works very good in very large houses, very old houses with thick walls, houses made of bricks and bring wifi to places like a garage. Like most mimo tech, they can retransmit the signle via only wifi from the main(any of the 3 hubs that come in the box) or via ethernet cable. For example you could put one in the one corner of your house, and the other in another opposing corner on the another floor and run an ethernet cable from one of those device to your detached garage and plug the final one in via ethernt. Its a whole property solution method regardless of size of your property. You do not need another wifi, you do need to have internet access that you connect via ethernt to the wan port of the first. If your property is so big or walls so thick that you cannot get good signal this is very good, you can also get additional hubs to expand your network accordingly.

Before setting up, make sure to enable bridge mode on the router provided by your provider. Bridge mode is when the provider router is only used as a modem and transfers all the speed to the Google Wifi router.
