We have found that battery life has improved the more we use, like cell phones, batteries need to be "conditioned ". Also by adjusting settings such as turning off gps & wifi and making changes to presets to better suit our needs has greatly improved battery life. As far as overheating we have not had any issues, but knowing any electronic equipment does generate heat, we are mindful of external heating sources and make adjustments when we can to minimize adding more heat to the camera.

Increasing airflow around the camera and using a faster SD card should alleviate any issues with the camera getting too hot. Battery life depends on the settings used. Higher frame rates and resolutions typically use more power than lower frame rates and resolutions. For example, at 4K/120 fps, the battery may last less than 40 minutes, but at 1080p/30 fps, the battery should last about two hours. Using a spare battery or plugging the camera into an external power source can extend the recording time for the HERO10 Black.
