The battery life will vary depending on your environment temperatures. I just did dog sledding and snow mobiling in Breckenridge and the temp was between 0-20 F. I recorded for about 35 minutes before the batteries died. I carried a total of 4 and kept the 3 extra fully charged batteries in a inner chest pocket to keep them warm. I have the Hero 7 black and it uses the same batteries as Hero 6 & 5. You can also get away with the cheepies like (Artman Batteries (3 Pack)) and they worked perfectly for me.
