• It does give you the option of filing state taxes however there's additional fees. You have to pay to download the state software and you also have to pay an additional fee to electronically file your state tax return

• I am not familiar with California taxes but this program is Federal only. You can buy an add-on that will do state taxes - the program asks if you want this upgrade and then downloads. Don't know how much for California.
