You need the kit only if you want to hard wire the camera. (hide the wire and connect to a fuse) Very clean look. No visible wires and frees up your cig lighter.

Sorry, there was a problem. Please try again later.The Nextbase camera's should come with a 12v cigarette lighter port cable to power them, so this hardwire kit is not required but an add-on. The hardwire kit will add 2 things to the overall dashcam install. First it will be a much cleaner looking install since instead of having the 12v cigarette lighter port cable exposed and plugged in, all the wiring can hide behind the dash (either power method will still have some cables from the unit sticking out to where it is tucked in the headliner). Second, it will give the unit a constant source of always on power. That will allow their dashcams with internal batteries to have the ability to recharge with the car off. That will allow the parking mode feature to last much longer than on the internal battery only. The dashcam also has a failsafe feature for the hardwire install to not fully drain the car battery, so it will cut out and leave the battery with enough power to start the car
