Yes, if you connect via bluetooth it will act like most bluetooth speakers and sync the volume control. In other words, when you turn up the volume on your phone, the speaker volume will go up. When they are connected via wifi and you "cast" to the speakers you can control the speaker volume through the google home app and your phone volume can act independently.
