The unit I purchased has a Roku hub . Once you do the Roku set-up, choose Netflix and follow the prompts to enter user and password and you are up and running. Same goes for any other APP. I do not use a dvd player, therefore cannot answer first hand.

This unit has multiple HDMI ports and you are free to connect whatever third party devices or cable boxes as you wish. This TV does not have a built in PVR but you can connect one to it via HDMI.
