A:Answer It will work with a cable box that has HDMI, component (red, blue, green video and red and white audio), or composite (red and white audio and yellow video) video/audio outputs. It does not have optical in (for sound), but does have optical out which provides digital sound back to a receiver, etc. from any selected TV input source. It also has audio return via HDMI input #1 which returns digital sound from what ever is attached to that HDMI input.
