“Hello I've been waiting for an hdr update for my 55h7b model but nothing so far. If the hdr firmware update for the h8 series also enabled it on the 43h7c model would it work on my 55H7b? Is there a risk of bricking it?”

It is very important to only install updates by selecting Check Firmware Upgrade in the Settings menu or via USB when provided by Hisense technical support.
