“When I turn it on it goes to the app screen but then immediately crashes and the screen goes black. The remote is nonfunctional and will not bring up any of the settings. I’ve tried unplugging the TV from the wall but still crasheseverytime tuned back on.”

Turned out to be a common issue with Hisense tvs, including this model. The main system board has failed and needs to be replaced, but they don't stock the part anymore.
