You can get Dolby Atmos via Dolby Digital Plus with this TV. Dolby Digital Plus is a lossy, lower-bandwidth format that has been optimized for use with streaming services and features like B-D Live. It’s currently supported by a wide range of devices, including laptops, tablets, smartphones, and streaming boxes like Apple TV and Roku. Dolby Atmos over Dolby Digital Plus will be the way most people experience Atmos. Not only is it the format used by Netflix and Amazon, but it’s also the only version of Atmos that is compatible with HDMI ARC. That's one part Bobby got right, you can go to google and you will find that Atmos CAN be sent over ARC. It will not be lossless but 99.99% of people won't hear a difference from Dolby TrueHD and atmos vs Dolby Digital Plus with atmos. Dolby Digital Plus with atmos is what almost all devices support as well as what streaming services use to send Atmos regardless of if you are using eARC or regular ARC HDMI channel on your TV. This TV does not have eARC and where that will start to cause issues is if you have next gen gaming consoles or are very particular about your Dolby Atmos codec source. Otherwise you will have no problem using good ol fashioned ARC channel on this TV and can still experience an immersive atmos experience. hope that helps!

A tv without EARC will not pass through Dolby Atmos to an AV receiver, sound bar, etc. If you research on google you will see I am correct. I was looking to buy this tv but no EARC was a deal breaker because I want full audio passthrough to my surround system if I use the TV Smart interface.
