OP update: by saying "agent" on every prompt to the call center, I was able to get through to a customer service rep. Apparently there is no way to "fully" power it down except to unplug it. So if you're traveling for a period of time, you'll want to do that. In settings I did switch off the small LED light that is on when in standby mode. The screen is completely dark, so I'm thinking it will be a minimal power drain when in standby. I'd still prefer a full shutdown: Hisense engineers, let's strive for that in a software update.
Sorry, there was a problem. Please try again later.There’s a menu where you can set the preferences for tapping the power button vs holding the power button. By default it’s set to tap for screen saver and hold for power off. They can be changed in the tv settings.
