iPhones can Bluetooth to the mini. Here's how:

Turn on WiFi
Open the google home app
Click the top right icon to display devices
Find the device to Bluetooth
Click the top right three horizontal dots 
Select settings 
Under device settings select pair Bluetooth device 
Follow the instructions provided
