I was able to turn off my TV. However, you need a Chromecast. Unfortunately, I have not been able to turn on the TV using the Google Home Mini. I was also able to ask it to play something from YouTube and music from Pandora.
Sorry, there was a problem. Please try again later. You may have to check with your TV Manual. My Google home will control Some things on TV, but when I try to turn the TV on and off it says consult the TV Manual. But I am able to control other things.

Sorry, there was a problem. Please try again later.Google Home Mini can only turn on TV/Cable/DVD players if you buy a Logitech Harmony Hub (around $99). Since Google Home Mini does not have a way to send RF (radio frequency) or IR (inferred) signals, you will need the Logitech Harmony Hub to do that.
Sorry, there was a problem. Please try again later.I was able to get it to do this after setting up my Chromecast connected to my TV. You can also do it by setting it up with. Logitech Harmony Hub.

Sorry, there was a problem. Please try again later. Not without another device. I don't know of any TV's with the Google Assistant built-in. If there was, it might work. However, you can pickup a Harmony Hub/Remote and it will work. I do this now for my TV, receiver, cable box, PS4, etc. I can tell my either my Echo Dot or Home Mini and issue commands to turn on/off my system, change channels, etc. Some commands can be a little finicky, and you have to do some customizing to get certain things working right (this is all on the Harmony side). I still have some issues with my system, but overall the majority of my commands work. There are several versions from Logitech, so check their website to see which remotes are compatible with Alexa or Google Assistant. I have the top of the line Harmony Elite.
