Why choose this over the Echo Dot 3rd Gen? null

If you keep a lot of your online stuff within Google-space, this will be a better answer. If not, I personally find the Dot a bit more flexible. The Google AI is stronger, but a bit more Google-space centric.

It depends on whose "ecosystem" you are more interested in. The Echo Dot is a very nice speaker too, but I personally fine the Google Home Mini a little more adept at giving info related to travel time, maps, local business inquiries, etc. You can't go wrong either way, but I have loved my Mini.

I think it greatly depends on what system you're more used to and what things you have that may be compatible with these smart speakers. I bought a Google Mini and an Echo 3rd Gen device simultaneously while they were on sale because I was curious which one performs better. After using them and playing with their features for about one month, I find that they are both similar. However, if one is an Android / Google fan, I think the Google Mini is more ideal to own than the Echo due to compatibility.

I would say this is going to be largely based on preference...I really like Amazon and their products, but when I tested both devices, I just preferred the Google Home Mini. Also, didn’t hurt that I got it on sale for $25...audio quality seemed a bit better to me, but I am not professional at all, just my humble opinion. Lastly, the Mini has a better look to it, and when I mounted mine on the wall, you barely notice it or assume it was meant to be there. Good luck, and enjoy whatever you get!

I would pick this over the Echo Dot if you prefer the Google Assistant over Alexa. It really boils down to preference. I think the sound of this little speaker is decent, but all things considered they are very similar. It really just comes down to your preference of AI assistants and aesthetics.
