No, you simply plug it into your power outlet and then pull up the Google Home app on your phone or tablet. That will basically walk you through getting it connected to your wireless network and then you're done.

Very easy. No more difficult than connecting to a Bluetooth speaker.

It was extremely easy. I'm almost 60 and no techie and I did it in 5 minutes. As long as you have WiFi and a smart phone it was very simple.
