Yes, however it doesn't have support for Apple Music but I control it using my iPad Pro all the time works great!

you can manage it if you install the google home app on your ipad, or you can use it as a chromecast product to stream music from Google music and spotify even on IOS.

It works by itself and does not need another device to work it. You need to have a Gmail account to sign in like all Android devices.
