Yes and no. You don't need a Chromecast, but Google Home only streams music content from the Internet and not from a local device. So you would simply ask it to play the songs from Google Play Music (a free 6-month subscription is included with Google Home). If you want it to play music that you own and that is also NOT available on Google Play Music, you'll need to upload those songs and podcasts to your personal Google Play Music library (you can upload up to 20,000 songs and stream them for free) using your computer, add it to a playlist and then you can request it to play through Google Home. There is a Google Play Music app for iPhone as well.
Sorry, there was a problem. Please try again later.I don't think so. The Home doesn't have a bluetooth connection, so the app has to have Chromecast capability. Google Play Music, Spotify and Pandora have that. The iPhone's native music and podcast apps don't.
