We don't have much to connect to it yet, but I like it. It can tell jokes, play games, music. We ask it how many grams in 2.5 ounces and such like that. It tells me about my day by telling me the weather and my schedule then launches into news from sources I picked. It does connect to our Chromecasts and our thermostat. But we don't have any smart lights or outlets yet. We hope to get a couple soon. I think Google Home is a great way to start.

Sorry, there was a problem. Please try again later. If purchasing these type of devices to create a "smart home" environment, you might be disappointed somewhat. Yes they can connect to certain devices to help feel like a sort of smart home but the limited devices and cost may become overwhelming. A lot of online reviews seem to focus on what they can do with what devices and I just don't see most people putting out that kind of money for " attachments" .Yes , they will get better and yes they will lower cost but both are very close as basic voice command units which is a plus if you just want music , news or simple questions quickly without the computer. Home will most likely excel here. As far as "games" neither are good at that. I have both and both are good at something and very close to the same. Echo Dot is cheapest if you just want to try one.
Sorry, there was a problem. Please try again later. At this point the Echo has more fun games than the Home. I bought the Home and returned the Echo, but I miss Jeopardy on the Echo.
