“Does the thermostat on this heater work, meaning you can set a desired temp, when it is on the LOW setting? Some comments say no, the manual implies yes. Thanks!”

As an owner of this unit, which has only been a couple of weeks now, it works just fine. I can set the temp at whatever I choose to and it will maintain that temp no matter if it's on high or low. It seems however that once you set the temp on low the unit will work a little harder, which I think it goes on high until the temp is reached and then maintains the temp when the unit is sit on low. This is just fine with me and will save a little on the power bill. The unit maintains the temp at whatever you set it to as well and maintains it with little trouble. I would recommend this unit to any of my friends!

Also, please note that the thermostat only goes as low as 60 degrees. If you're looking to simply keep a room from freezing, this heater will be running a lot more than you might need it to run.
