• The instruction manual states 1.7 gallons. Just set up my new humidifier. Had to call customer service as there is no water fill mark on the tank. Customer service rep said to fill the tank within 3-inches of the top. He also mentioned that the capacity is 1.7 gallons.

• In my opinion this is within statistical limits of the character and device stated as far as the 1.7 gallons compared to the 1.5 gallons. As far as the amount of humidity in your room, unless you have these devices routinely calibrated, you don't have any idea of what the actual humidity is.
