Yes, the footprint is tall and narrow, so it would go on the floor. However, several reviews (including mine) say it is prone to leaks, so I would be careful using it on a hardwood floor without a pan to sit it in.
Sorry, there was a problem. Please try again later.I can't answer your first question, but I do have my free standing on the floor in my kitchen Pretty solid product though the filters don't last very long with the hard water in my neighborhood.
Sorry, there was a problem. Please try again later. The instructions recommend setting it on a floor not prone to water damage to be safe. But in reality it's fine. I set mine on the carpet. The instructions also recommend setting it 12in from the wall. This is probably so the humid air does not blow directly against the wall constantly.

Sorry, there was a problem. Please try again later. It's a tower model, so it's made to sit on the floor. (Doesn't mean you have to, I suppose.) When I was researching humidifiers, I saw some people say it leaked. It does need to be set up properly, as per the instructions. I found it very easy to deal with, and refiling is VERY easy, which was one of my "must haves." No leaking for us, at all.
Sorry, there was a problem. Please try again later.I believe this is an updated unit. The instruction book is also used for the previous unit with no digital display. I sit it on the wood floor and it hasn't had a problem, but make sure the base is on good as that is where you clean it from.
