What battery does it take null

This thermostat does not have a battery you must power it from the 24 volt AC from the HVAC system you have.

It does not use batteries. It takes power from the 24 VAC that is available inside the air handler from a small transformer. In my case I had a spare wire coming from the air handler to the thermostat panel so I connected it to the COM side of the transformer inside the air handler to the C terminal inside the thermostat. Before you remove any panels turn the power off to the air handler or if you are not sure how to do it call a licensed electrician. More information can be found on the Honeywell Home support page.
